On April 9 and April 10, the 7th Seminar on Chinese Educational Linguistics was held in Ningbo University of Technology. From more than 100 universities, journals and enterprises, over 180 experts and scholars attended the meeting. As chairman of the Chinese Educational Linguistics Research Association, Professor Yu Liming in Shanghai Jiaotong University made an opening speech. Yao Jianpeng, dean of the College of Foreign Studies at Ningbo University of Technology hosted the opening ceremony. Professor Wang Yinquan was invited to attend the meeting and read the paper Analysis on innovation ability of foreign language professionals and cultivation of global quality. The paper focuses on national strategies of foreign language education, an education plan for foreign language inChina, and the importance of innovative training in the areas of “mass entrepreneurship” and “public innovation”, arousing strong responses from participants.?xml:namespace>
Focusing on the theme “A new horizon of college foreign language teaching”, this seminar directly focused on teaching reform and the demands of transforming the economic development pattern of society. In the two-day visit, domestic experts and scholars focused on issues like foreign language talent cultivation, college foreign language reform, research into new models of personnel training, and pushing continued reform and development of teaching.
Five experts were invited to make keynote speeches at this seminar. In Instructions for College English Teaching, Xiang Mingyou gave several thoughts on reform of college English teaching. Wu Zhaoyi pointed out that mobile learning has greatly influenced the socialization of foreign language education with the rapid development of broadband wireless access and mobile terminal facilities. Chang Junyue gave a self-examination through the integration of CBI exploration and CBI theory, trying to put forward the idea of combining content with language. In the context of cross-border exchanges, Xie Nan raised new ideas about training model innovation in colleges of foreign studies. That is, training innovative cross-border talents who are familiar with business, proficient in networking, and innovative. Shao Yifeng introduced new patterns of IA collaboration.
There were four assembly rooms, and experts actively discussed the theme in the corresponding room, including college foreign language reform under the background of cross-cultural exchange, foreign language cultivation under the national standard, new patterns of foreign language teaching under the background of cross-border electricity commerce, and language research as well as language teaching research.
The forum hosted the editors of major linguistic journals, such as Foreign Language Teaching and Research. Centering on hot topics like research themes of publications and key directions of current foreign language study, they gave detailed introductions and answered many questions raised by representatives.
At the closing ceremony, Mr. Lan Tiangao, general manager of Shanghai Jiaotong University Press, spoke highly of the conference and expressed thanks to the College of Foreign Studies at Ningbo University of Technology for their careful planning as well as their thoughtful services. The next seminar will be undertaken by the College of Foreign Studies at Northwest Normal University.
