On December 26 and 27, the annual meeting of the National Foreign Language Teaching and Research Association in Agricultural Universities was held in Huazhong Agricultural University. Vice-dean You Yiming, director Gu Feirong and Teacher Li in the College of Foreign Studies of NJAU attended the meeting. The seminar mainly discussed how to reform college English teaching in the new era of Internet-based teaching. Furthermore, organizers also held an English lecture contest among teachers from Agricultural Universities and Teacher Li in our college won the third prize.
Chen Jiangfan, deputy editor-in-chief of China Agriculture Press, Zhang Caihua, chairman of the National Foreign Language Teaching and Research Association in Agricultural Universities, and Professor Yang Yonglin of Tsinghua University attended the opening ceremony. Over fifty experts and scholars came from various agricultural colleges nationwide, such as China Agricultural University, Nanjing Agricultural University, and Northwest A & F University. Mr. Li Chongguang, vice-chancellor of Huazhong Agricultural University delivered the opening speech. With the topic of ‘How to teach college English in the period of ‘Internet plus’, Professor Yang Yonglin pointed out, in consideration of challenges from the ‘Internet plus’ initiative to traditional English teaching methods, one of the most important tasks for reforming college English writing is to improve the English effectiveness, enhance teachers' professionalism, stimulate student interest in writing and achieve the purpose of creative teaching through information technology and intelligent tools. Wang Yuhuan, on behalf of Qingdao Agricultural University gave a lecture titled ‘Research and practice on diversifying the curriculum system of College English. She demonstrated the special English teaching model named ‘3+1+x’ in Qingdao Agricultural University, as well as achievements in textbook compilation. As the representative of our school, Vice Dean You Yiming presented a special report with the title of ‘Pro-reality, Anti-stress, Promoting Reform, Facing Challenges Together’, which described the problems and reform methods in today's college English teaching, and also shared with others our school’s experience in reform of college English Teaching.
