On April 19th, 2017,the World Federation of ChineseMedicine Association, an International Academic Organization, for the firsttime released Law of the People's Republic of China on TraditionalChinese Medicine(Chinese and English version) in Beijing, and theEnglish version was translated by the People’s Health Publishing House. ZhenjiLi, vice Chairman and Secretary General of the World Federation and Prof. ZhaoguoLi, a well-known Chinese translator performed the ribbon cutting at theopening ceremony for the Law of the People's Republic of China on TraditionalChinese Medicine.Prof. Yinquan Wang from Nanjing Agricultural University, who is director ofCentre for the Translation of Chinese Classics and Sinology, as one of the fivedomestic examiners of Law of the People's Republic of China on TraditionalChinese Medicine,was invited to be deputy editor of the law.
For the inheritance and spread ofChinese medicine, promotion of its development and the protection of people'shealth, in 2016 the National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic ofChina issued Law of the People's Republic of China on TraditionalChinese Medicineon December 25th, and it has been in implementationsince July1st, 2017. Not only does the law provide legal protection for Chinesemedicine, but also encourages practitioners at home. Moreover, the law providesvaluable references for all the governments of the world in managing anddeveloping Chinese medicine.
Atthe press conference on April 19th, Secretary General of World Federation ofChinese Medicine Association, Bin-sheng Sangs, said in an interview with XinhuaNews Agency, “After the release of Chinese Medicine Law, many Chinesemedicine practitioners overseas welcomed its coming and hoped an EnglishTranslation to be published soon that can be available for the host countryauthorities to promote the local legislation process. Bin-sheng Sang explained thatas an international academic organization, the World Federation of ChineseMedicine Societies has been promoting legislation of Chinese medicine in theworld as its mission and has made unremitting efforts to guarantee Chinesemedicine the legal status in an increasing number of countries throughout theworld. For the members of World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies,relevant associations and Chinese medicine practitioners to get accuratecontents of Law of the People's Republic of China on TraditionalChinese Medicineconveniently, and at the same time facilitate thehealthy development of Chinese Medicine around the world, scholars andsecretarial staff of the World Federation of Chinese MedicineSocieties started the translation of the Law of the People's Republic of China on TraditionalChinese Medicineinto an English version, which receivedpositive responses from World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies,Committee for the Promotion of Legislation in Chinese Medicine and scholars whoare members of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies in China, Australia,Canada, Spain, Brazil, America, New Zealand, and Iran. The World Federation ofChinese Medicine Societies specially invited both domestic and internationalcelebrated experts to participate in the finalization of the English version toguarantee the professional quality and reliability of the translation.
SangBin-sheng said at the press conference that the publication of Law of the People'sRepublic of China on Traditional Chinese Medicine (Chinese and English) contributes to legalizationand standardization of Chinese medicine and the spread of Chinese pharmaceuticalculture all around the world. As Bin-sheng Sang said at theconference, “Nowadays, China puts forward “the Belt and Road” which hasaroused widespread concern all over international communities. As aninternational organization of Chinese medicine, the world will pay close attentionto many aspects of Chinese medicine,includingthe standardization, legalization, standardization of construction and willplay an active role in implementing Chinese Medicine “The Belt and Road” DevelopmentPlan (2016-2020).
In recent years, ProfessorYinquan Wang committed to promoting the international spread of Chinesemedicine culture, constructing discourse systems and researching on otherfields and he has made outstanding achievements. Professor Yinquan Wang wasinvited to finalize the Law of the People's Republic of China on TraditionalChinese Medicine(English version),which is a new achievement for Centre for the Translation of Chinese Classics andSinology, and meanwhile enhanced the academic influence through the futurerealization of the successful cooperation between the Centre for theTranslation of Chinese Classics and Sinology(CTCCS)and the Chinese CultureTranslation and Studies Support (CCTSS). The Chinese Culture Translation and StudiesSupport (CCTSS) will establish a talent base in the Centre for the Translationof Chinese Classics and Sinology at Nanjing Agricultural University, and themain work will be the promotion of Chinese cultural books, especially Chinesemedicine books, the translation and dissemination of agricultural books,inviting domestic experts and overseas sinologists to join the translationactivities and related research, organizing advanced seminars of “the overseaspromotion of Chinese culture”, and translation and dissemination to enlargeacademic influence.
