Education
He earns his doctoral degree in the discipline of the history of sciences in Nanjing Agricultural University with particular focus on the dissemination of western learning in China by the Jesuit missionaries through translation between the 16th and 18th centuries.
Research projects
He is now carrying out a research project funded by Chinese National Foundation for Philosophy and Social Sciences.
Publications since 2000
He has published on a wide range of issues that include language planning and language policy, TEFL, linguistics, translation, and Sinology. He has published two articles on English Today by CUP, and dozens of important articles on China’s peer-refereed journals such as the Journal of Foreign Language Teaching and Research and Chinese Translators Journal. He is widely known for his research into the translation of signage with 25 articles published as a columnist with the Journal of China Signs. The article Foreign Language Anxiety and Its Impacts on Foreign Language Learning, published on the 2nd issue, 2001 of the Journal of Foreign Language Teaching and Research, had been cited for 1108 times as of March 31, 2015.
