In the afternoon of March 9, 2016, the ceremony of practice base construction between Nanjing New Oriental School and Nanjing Agricultural University was held in the lecture hall of the teaching building. Attendees from NAU to the ceremony included, Prof. Wu zhen, Deputy Director of the Office of Deans Office NAU, Prof. Han Jiqing, Executive Dean of the College of Foreign Studies (CFS), Vice Dean, Assoc. Prof. You Yiming, and Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Assoc. Prof. Dong Hongmei of CFS NAU. Attendees from Nanjing New Oriental School included Mr. Li Guofu, Principal of Nanjing New Oriental School and President of New Oriental School Group for Eastern China, and Mr. Wei Fei, Chief Inspector of foreign departments. Students of CFS and other colleges of NAU attended the ceremony, which was hosted by Assoc. Prof. Dong Hongmei.
At the beginning of the ceremony, Dong Hongmei expressed a warm welcome to the guests. Then Wu Zhen made a speech on behalf of the University, pointing out that the establishment of the practice base will help improve the abilities of NAU students, especially those of CFS. He expressed hope that the two parties can enhance cooperation in practical terms and expressed that the Deans Office of NAU would actively promote in-depth cooperation. Afterwards, Han Jiqin addressed as the CFS representative, expressed sincere gratitude to New Oriental School for providing our students with a valuable practice platform, and hoped that New Oriental School would continue to devote itself to the cultivation of talent and provide a development platform for our students. She also expressed appreciation for the strong support of NAU Deans Office.
As one of the supporting institutions of the employment base built jointly by NAU and New Oriental School, CFS-NAU will work hard to promote the achievement of the base construction. "No matter how humble he is, a man with a dream will go far on the road to the future," Han Jiqin quoted from Yu Minhong, wishing students to achieve their dreams through their efforts. Afterwards, Li Guofu spoke on behalf of Nanjing New Oriental School, who introduced the principle and background of the School and cited examples of Ma Yun and Yu Minhong, both language graduates, to stress the importance of learning a foreign language, and was looking forward to more NAU students injecting new vitality into New Oriental School. Finally, Han Jiqin and Li Guofu signed an agreement to build the employment practice base.
After the signing ceremony, Wei Fei made a lecture to the students present, whose profound analysis of the Chinese translation of “欲避之，反促之” in the movie Kung Fu Panda won praise from students. He pointed out that being "open-minded, pragmatic, prudent, hard-working" is important for students. Finally, the students and Li Guofu entered into Q&A time. Li Guofu stressed that New Oriental School provided learning opportunities and a diverse training platform for students, while at the same time using flexible ways to screen talents.
